"Vorona - the name was first recorded in 1458: pan Vorona (=Mr.
Vorona)... Derived from the name of the bird "vorona" (= crow) that
used to be used by Slavs as a proper name (compare also the name Voron
(= raven) that functions as a proper name for Southern Slavs). This
name ("the crow) has given many derivates.
In 1638, the name Woron'czak (to be pronounced with a palatalized "n") was

An old Slav polyfunctional suffix widely presented both in general and
proper names. Among all the Ukrainian appellatives denoting a person,
this suffix reveals its highest productivity in the following noun
categories: names of activity (yidak = he who eats; rybak = a
fisherman; spivak = a singer); names of one's inner or outside trait
(holodniak = a hungry man; skupak = a greedy man); names of kinship
(rodak = a relative; bratniak = a brother); names od one's social
status (bidniak = a poor; prostak = a simpleton); names of the place
where one comes from (potichniak = from where a brook flows); names of
one's ethnic origin (poliak = a Pole); or non-personal names (vovchak
= from vovk - a wolf).
The contemporary and ancient areals of the family names with this
suffix at the Slavonic background shows that it was originated
somewhere in the western part of the Slavonic world.

So, the meaning of your family name is patronymic (= name after the
father) from Vorona, a crow, which used to be a Slavonic pagan first
name (or, less likely, from Voron, a raven).

Yuri (百合?), also known by the wasei-eigo construction Girls Love (ガールズラブ gāruzu rabu?),[3] is a Japanese jargon term for content and a genre involving love between women in manga, anime, and related Japanese media.[4][5] Yuri can focus either on the sexual, the spiritual, or the emotional aspects of the relationship, the latter two sometimes being called shōjo-ai by western fans.

The themes yuri deals with have their roots in the Japanese lesbian literature of early twentieth century, with pieces such as Yaneura no Nishojo by Nobuko Yoshiya.Nevertheless, it is not until the 1970s that lesbian-themed works began to appear in manga, by the hand of artists such as Ryoko Yamagishi and Riyoko Ikeda. The 1990s brought new trends in manga and anime, as well as in dōjinshi productions, along with more acceptance for this kind of content. In 2003 the first manga magazine specifically dedicated to yuri was launched under the name Yuri Shimai, followed by its revival Comic Yuri Hime, launched after the former was discontinued in 2004.

Although yuri originated in female-targeted (shōjo, josei) works, today it is featured in male-targeted (shōnen, seinen) ones as well.[8] Yuri manga from male-targeted magazines include titles such as Kannazuki no Miko and Strawberry Panic!, as well as those from Comic Yuri Hime's male-targeted sister magazine, Comic Yuri Hime S, which was launched in 2007.

Ingredients
250g of Cooking steak
1 Beetroot
Small Cabbage
1 tin Baked beans (optional)
3 large potatoes
1 can tomato paste/puree
50g Bacon
1 Onion

Instruction
Cook meat until tender.
Add beetroot, cabbage & potatoes and simmer for half an hour.
Fry bacon & onions.
When potatoes are soft add beans, puree, bacon & onions.
Add sour cream to taste.
Serve with fresh bread & vodka.

About Me:
Young, gifted and Ukranian

Yuri was born, along with twin sister Janet, in Adelaide on May 11, 1956, to Ukranian parents, Teodor and Alexandra Worontschak . Wasyl, Marika and John make up the rest of the family. At seven he studied classical piano under Irene Joyce. Private lessons contiued for 12 years. At 17, he won the AMEB Young Composer's Award, and a choice had to be made between piano and Australian Rules Football. A gifted footballer,Yuri was selected for the State squad and trained with SA team Norwood. Injuries took their toll however, and music, as well as academia,were pursued in the years to follow. Yuri obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at Flinders University in 1978. As an undergraduate he composed and performed in many of the Adelaide and Flinders University thearical productions and reviews, including MacBeth, Willy Combec, My Friends and for The Australian Mime Theatre under Madam Zora Sembrova.Yuri was also briefly a member of legendary Adelaide rock band "Red Angel Panic

The Eighties

Yuri moved to Melbourne in 1978. Within a few months Yuri embarked on an Australian tour as keyboard player with The Christie Allen Band. At the time this was real- "Goosebumps" and "You're My Number One" were top 10 and Christie, Queen of Pop. Touring with K C and the Sunshine Band was a highlight, but the the gruelling tour, the drugs and the groupies were all too much for a 22 year old kid from Adelaide. Disillusioned with the pop scene, it was back to uni enrolling in an M.A. Prelim and eventually a Masters Degree in Political Psychology at Melbourne University under the late Professor Alan Davies and Dr. Graham Little. Yuri's thesis on "narcissistic pesonality disorders" was to prove very useful in understanding the machinations of collaegues in later life. The Melbourne Uni reviews and the early Last Laugh shows were seriously funny-the talents of Magda Szubanski, Jane Turner, Marg Downy, Steve Vizard,Wendy Harmer, Michael Veitch, Alan Pentland and Ian McFadyen were incredible. This group of people went on to become TV "stars" in The D Generation, The Comedy Company and Fast Forward. It was a special time in Australian comedy and Yuri "fluked" being there at it's genesis. In Jeannie Lewis's So You Want Blood Tour of 1982, Yuri was to work with young Paul Grabowsky and Red Symons for the first time. In 1983, Yuri was composer for his first feature "Snow: The Movie" with David Argue. He also won an AFI award in 1985 for his work on the soundtrack of Virginia Murray's "The Lead Dress". In 1987, Yuri was founding member of the band "Way Back 5". Other members were Kate and Phil Ceberano, James Reyne, Rebecca Barnard and Michael Hutchence! The band played 70's funk well before it was fashionable.At this time Yuri was in demand as a session player and programmer. That's him singing "Marie Marie La Voodoo" on the Chantoozies hit! In 1988 he met British Engineer of the Year and Stock Aitkin Waterman producer Mike Duffy ,who asked him to co-produce Locomotion for Kylie Minogue. Yuri turned him down-doh!! The second half of the decade was spent mostly overseas as MD/composer for Los Trios Ringbarkus and Circus Oz. Tours of the US, Canada,the UK and Europe took their toll and by 1989 Yuri decided to concentrate on studio work.

The Nineties

Fast Forward/Full Frontal was the longest running sketch show in the world and Yuri was the only person to work on every episode during it's 11 year run. This was the backbone of the work at Kinesound. During this time Yuri teamed with Steven Kearney (Los Trios, Friends, Ned & Stacey) to form "Special K and Main Man Yuri". "Absolutely Perfect " was the first single and the clip was shot in LA. Screen composition was the predominant activity in the nineties and his credits speak for themselves. Producing Anthony Warlow's first two albums was also a highlight. Platinum and gold records for production as well as engineering

2000 +

Kinesound recorded and Yuri produced music for the Opening (Sidney Nolan/ Ned Kelly) and Closing (Lawn Mower Man) Ceremonies of the Sydney Olympic Games and the Closing Ceremony of the Paralympics. In fact, because of his close relationship with artistic director, Neill Gladwyn, and a lack of Russian speakers around at the time Yuri "called" Atajan Begniyazov, the Turkmenistan athlete to walk on his hands to open the Paralympics closing ceremony. With a stadium audiences of 110,000 and billions of viewers worldwide the Olympics has been the highlight of a very busy turn of the century for Yuri and Kinesound. Calling Atajan was an inspiring moment.

"The Mao Game" and "In The Weeds" were a chance for Yuri to write music on Films abroad. "Mao" stars Kirstey Alley and Piper Laurie, is directed by Josh Miller and produced by Woopie Goldberg. Yuri has also recorded on the soundtrack for "One Night The Moon" (with Paul Kelly) , Paul Cox's "Nijinsky" and "Human Touch", "Shiner" and Fred Schepsi's"Last Orders" (with Michael Cain). Yuri was Score Supivisor for "Empire Falls" (Paul Newman, Ed Harris, Helen Hunt) , "It Runs in the Family" (with Kirk and Michael Douglas, and the closing song sung by Diana Krall) . He was Musical Director for "Peoplescape", the "Centenary of Federation Concert", in Canberra and was composer and MD on Micallef Tonight, performing with James Morrison, Jose Feliciano and Percy Sledge. Yuri recently wrote music for Dogstar, Animalia, Newsopia and Little Oberon. He's currently working on Eric Bana's self directed doco "Love the Beast".
Yuri lives and works in Albert Park, Melbourne. He is married to former Channel 9 dancer Anne Carrick and lives with son Matt.
